Parks, Parades and Markets, Oh My!
Public gathering space is an important component of a community. An objective of the planned redevelopment of Westwood Shopping Center and surrounding properties is to provide more spaces in the community where residents can come together.
The vision includes a series of designed green areas and plazas for both active and passive uses. The proposed new retail area has been designed with a street grid that allows for festivals and other events—like farmers markets, neighborhood parades and holiday activities.
The mixed-use space includes a community room that will be available for public use and programmed in partnership with the county and civic organizations.
The redevelopment of Westwood is being designed to bring a number of new neighborhood gathering spaces that will enhance the established Westbard community—whether it be playing at park, strolling through a market, listening to a folk singer on the plaza, or some other leisure.
As the public planning and approval process moves forward, we look forward to sharing more news and updates about the planned redevelopment. You can learn more at TheNewWestwood.com and by liking us on Facebook.
